In my 20's I had a dear friend (still is) who I desperately wanted to have a deeper relationship with. I was too scared to risk our wonderful friendship by asking her if she was interested in becoming my girlfriend and hence I was stuck in limbo-land. I went back there in my mind when I wrote this song years later.
