  1. Real Love

From the recording The Line

This song is called “Real Love” and this song is for anyone who has lost someone dear to them. I hope it means something to you.

I wrote this after recently speaking to my Mom. She lost her husband, my father, Bob Graham, in 2007, to Parkinsons disease. Some of you might have known him. She was telling me how deeply she loved him, what a great relationship they had, and how much she missed him. It was an intense and emotional conversation, especially as I have spent so much time away from my mother, what with me living in Canada for so long.

So "Real Love", although written and sung by me, is actually told through HER voice, if that makes sense. She is singing about her husband Bob. It is my imagination…..musing about what she would say to him, about him, and about her relationship with him.

I hope you too can identify with the words of this song:

Lyrics

Real Love By Robert Graham

Sometimes in my dreams you will be there like you were there before you slipped away from me and I was left alone

I can still remember the way you laughed and your easy smile and the way you used to hold me when I needed you

So many people loved the one they knew but I hope you knew I was the one who loved you most of all What does it tell you when after all this time There’s not a day That I don’t see your face and wish you were still mine?

Real Love True Love The kind I wish for everyone We had real love And underneath my sadness I’m so grateful for the love and I’m grateful for the time I had with you

I want the world to know how I loved you and every day when I see you in my children’s eyes how I wish you could

I am alone now and each and every day I still hope and pray somehow you can hear me when I talk to you If you are listening let me tell you just one thing: They’re the final words you told me: “I love you”

Real Love True Love The kind I wish for everyone We had real love And underneath my sadness I’m so grateful for the love and I’m grateful for the time I had with you
